On November 16, Tomsk and Kazan became the winners of the City Strategies Contest 2017: Capitals of Federal Subjects held in Yekaterinburg. Two other contestants, Volgograd and Perm, awarded diplomas as finalists. The final was held within the All-Russian Strategic Development Forum "Cities of Russia 2030: Crossroads of Opportunities".
The City Strategy Contest 2017 was organized by the All-Russian Congress of Municipalities, Yekaterinburg City Administration and ICSER Leontief Centre aimed to improve the implementation of the Federal Law No. 172 of June 28, 2014, "On Strategic Planning in the Russian Federation", to share the strategic planning experience at the municipal level, to find out innovations and effective solutions for social and economic issues at the level of the urban district.
