Scientific and Practical Conference "Problems of Urban Planning Ecology in Context of Global and Regional Environmental Changes"

General information

The conference is dedicated  to the Year of Ecology in Russia and is included in the "Plan of the main events within the Year of Ecology 2017 in St.Petersburg "approved by the Governor of St. Petersburg Georgiy Poltavchenko.

Initiators: the Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture of St. Petersburg and the Research and Design Center of St. Petersburg Master Plan as well as the Committee for Nature Use, Environmental Protection and Ecological Safety of St. Petersburg, the Institute of Earth Sciences of  St. Petersburg State University , State company “ Mineral "and CJSC ICSER “Leontief Centre”.

The main issues of the Conference:

During the conference the main problems of urban ecology in the context of global and regional environmental changes will be discussed.
Leading scientists and experts in urban planning, climatology, ecology and geology from St. Petersburg and other regions of Russia will present reports on two main issues:

1. Current climate changes and their impact on living conditions and on performance of urban economy in big cities.

• Ecological indicators of the sustainable development in cities.
• Global and regional trends of the current climate changes
• Climate regime specialties in big cities.
• Possible consequences of climate change for the urban economy, population and environmental base.
• Taking into consideration climate change in process of urban development planning.
• Future and possibilities of urban territories adaptation in condition of climate changes.

2. Geology in big cities.

• Adaptive management of the social, natural and engineer systems in big cities.
• Rational use of the geological environment as a foundation for the modern cities sustainable development
• Geological and geo -economical risks of the cities underground space use
• Three Dimension underground urban planning.

Moderators:

1. Mr. Artem Pavlovskiy – Ph.D in Physics and Mathematics, Head of the Division of urban environmental substantiation of  St. Petersburg Territories of the Research and Design Center of St. Petersburg Master Plan.
2. Mr. Kirill Chistyakov - Professor, Doctor of Science in Geography, Principal of the Institute of Earth Sciences St. Petersburg State University.

The Conference will be held on October 25, 2017 (Wednesday) in the Hall of Planning Councils of the Urban Planning and Architecture Committee: 2 Lomonosov sq., St. Petersburg

Registration: from 9.30 to 9.50.
Working hours: - 10.00 – 17.00
Break hours: 13.00 -14.00

Possibly the second part of the conference will be held ("Geology in big cities") in a different place (time and place will be specified additionally).

The conference is for:

• specialists in: urban planning and architecture, ecology and nature management, environmental protection, climatology, geology and other related fields of science
• Municipal, regional and federal authorities.
